The roadmap

MyKidsMoney is being built starting from the basics and progressing toward more advanced financial concepts — what is money, spending, saving, giving, needs vs wants, goals, earning, banks, interest, budgeting, investing, and beyond.

The game currently begins in Coinbrook — money sense, coins, and the jar system. The vision is to keep building new worlds from there.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is MyKidsMoney?

MyKidsMoney is a financial education resource for New Zealand families — practical guides for parents, and eventually a game-based learning experience for kids, built around the idea that children learn money skills best by making real decisions.

What age is MyKidsMoney for?

There's no single right age. Younger children can start with the basics — recognising coins, and simple spend/save/give ideas — while older children can move on to budgeting, earning, interest and eventually more advanced concepts.

How can I start teaching my child about money?

A simple starting point is giving your child a small amount of pocket money and a way to split it — for example, a Spend, Save and Give system with three jars or containers. Our pocket money guide walks through one family's real approach.

What is the Spend, Save & Give method?

It's a simple way to split pocket money into three purposes: Spend (money to use freely), Save (money set aside for a specific goal), and Give (money set aside for charitable giving).

Is the MyKidsMoney game available yet?

Not yet — the game is still in development. This page will be updated with a link once it's ready to play.
